Tekron® Features

What is Tekron®?
Tekron® Thermoplastic Elastomers are a class of block copolymer products designed for use in automotive injection molding, extrusion, and blow-molding applications. These tough and flexible materials can be processed with the speed and economy of a thermoplastic in many automotive interior, exterior, and under-the-hood applications.

What are the Characteristics of Tekron®?

  • Tactile feel and flexibility normally expected of rubber
  • Superior tensile strengths
  • Competitive tear strengths
  • Excellent thermal properties
  • Available with Shore A hardness values from 20 to 90+
  • Excellent resistance to water, alcohols, acids, bases, and brake fluid
  • Can be processed with standard thermoplastic extrusion, injection molding and blow-molding equipment at rates comparable to other commercial thermoplastic polymers
What Grades of Tekron® are Available?
Tekron® Thermoplastic Elastomers are available in Shore A hardness from 20 to 90+ and specific gravities from 0.89 to 1.18 or higher, as required. Tensile strength ranges from 400 to 2100+ psi with competitive tear strengths and excellent thermal properties. They are resistive to oxidative and ozone degradation and can be formulated for resistance to prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight.

Tekron® Automotive Grades:
Tekron® 4000 series [Shore A 25 through 90, Specific Gravity 1.18]

Tekron® 4200 series [Shore A 25 through 90, Specific Gravity 0.91]

Tekron® 4300 series - Designed for Automotive Airbag covers and containers
