Tekron® Benefits
TEKRON® THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMERS…
Choose Tekron® for versatility featuring a wide range of hardness, flexural modulus and elongation. Tekron® enables design flexibility, product simplification, low capital investment and low operating costs.
Tekron® features the feel and flexibility of rubber while offering the benefits of easy handling for the end user. Its diverse capabilities allow it to maintain its integrity and withstand temperatures to 120°C while maintaining flexibility below –60°C. Tekron® also offers excellent dimensional stability.
A more practical measure of product stability is the determination of outdoor and weather resistance. Tekron® is essentially non-reactive with oxygen because there are essentially no sensitive portions of the molecule capable of chemical combination with oxygen. Tekron® contains virtually no ozone sensitive unsaturation and is therefore essentially impervious to it. Ozone attack is seen mainly in stressed, unsaturated rubbers.
Attack by solvents and solution is determined by their chemical composition. Aqueous solutions (neutral or corrosive), alcohol’s and glycol’s have little effect. Swelling in oils and similar fluids is governed by the composition of the oil.
Tekron® Thermoplastic Elastomer grades include high temperature oxidation inhibitors and, where required, UV stabilizers and copper deactivator. These additions, together with the inherently non-reactive structure of Tekron® polymer, promote excellent overall thermal stability. By nature of the elastomers used in Tekron® Thermoplastic Elastomer, they possess outstanding low temperature flexibility.
Tekron® is supplied in pellet form and handles easily. Tekron® is not hygroscopic and may normally be used without drying. It is heat stable up to 450°F and does not emit gaseous products when used under normal operating conditions. Tekron® scrap can be recycled at 100% of the feed, however, blending scrap with prime material is suggested to ensure consistent processing and finished part performance.
