Telcar® Benefits
TELCAR® THERMOPLASTIC RUBBERS…
Telcar® Thermoplastic Rubbers offer a wide range of performance benefits such as a rubbery appearance and hot air aging up to 125 degrees C, excellent tear strength, ozone and weathering resistance, fluid resistance to acids, bases, and other aqueous based fluids.
The superior mechanical properties make Telcar® useful for flexible and semi-rigid parts especially in dual hardness extrusion applications. With a specific gravity less than thermoset rubber, Telcar® has a clear advantage, based on unit volume. Also, its hot tear strength provides for quick ejection from tools during processing, yielding fast molding cycles.
Other supporting benefits for this product include:
- Excellent dimensional stability due to the cross-linked rubber phase (1025 series)
- Deployment characteristics at high (+85 degrees C) and low (-35 degrees C) temperatures when used for air bag covers
- Excellent seal-related properties that are ideal for door and window weather seal applications
- Ability to maintain dimensional stability and withstand temperatures above 140 degrees F while maintaining flexibility below –60 degrees F make it ideal for stringent outdoor applications
- Offers critical spring-back properties when used with medical syringe bulb applications
- Fluid resistance to acids, bases, and other aqueous based fluids
- Excellent environmental resistance
- Specially formulated extrusion grades have very low die swell
