What is Telcar®?
Telcar® Thermoplastic Rubber is a Thermoplastic Elastomer which combines the performance characteristics of Thermoset Rubber with the processing ease of a Thermoplastic. Due to these advantages, Telcar® products have found a high level of acceptance in a wide assortment of Industrial, Automotive, Electric and Consumer Rubber applications.
What Are The Material Characteristics Of Telcar®?
- Tactile feel and flexibility characteristic of vulcanized rubber
- Excellent physical and mechanical properties
- High tensile strengths that can exceed 2000 psi
- Tear strengths greater than 400 pli
- Good thermal properties with an operating range from –60 degrees C to +125 degrees C
- Available with hardness values from 45A to 75D
- Excellent resistance to water, alcohols, acids and bases
- Can be processed with standard thermoplastic extrusion equipment at rates comparable to commercial thermoplastic polymers
- Excellent injection molding properties that results in fast cycle time
What Grades Of Telcar® Are Available?
Telcar® Thermoplastic Rubbers are available in hardness grades of 45A to 75D in black, natural or colored pellets. Special purpose compounds can be developed to meet selected end use application requirements such as hardness, heat aging, flame retardancy and weather resistance.
1000-Series: General Purpose Grade
Shore hardness of 90A through 55D
1025-Series: Partially Cross-linked Grade
Shore A hardness of 65 through 90
1050-Series: FDA Grade
Shore A hardness of 65 through 90
