Short Version of Presentation to Be Offered to Designers and Manufacturers Is Running Continuously at Teknor Color Company’s NPE 2003 Exhibit

CHICAGO, June 23, 2003: In the realm of color for products as diverse as cell phones, coffee makers, and automotive panels, demographics is king and lifestyle is queen. In a continuous presentation at its NPE 2003 exhibit (Booth 9755), Teknor Color Company shows how these factors will shape the color trends of 2004.

Called "2004 Color Trend Directions," the presentation reviews 34 hues that Teknor Color judges to be "the colors of the future," examining why certain of these colors are likely to dominate next year’s styles in each of six major markets: housewares and home durables, residential décor, sports and recreation, consumer electronics and computers, automotive, and fashionable clothing and accessories.

The analysis is specific about tomorrow’s fashionable colors and their attractions for consumers. Here are two examples:

_ Sky Blue, Hot Cranberry, and Tanned Leather in sporting and recreational products, for which "competitiveness, personal best, and hard play" will drive next year’s trends.

_ Yellow Pop, Blue Splash, and Poppy for "a fusion of the youth-oriented tech world with the changeable color world in consumer electronics."

"Although formulating and manufacturing color concentrates is a matter of hard science for Teknor Color Company, predicting color trends is where science and art work hand in hand," said market manager Jim Cafferty. "Our look at where color is headed draws not just on the
science of demographics but on our own intuitive sense of color trends, a sense that continually evolves as we work with designers and specifiers in every market where plastics are used. With
over forty years of color-matching experience and an extensive color database, we can help customers avoid the pitfalls and reap the benefits of color selection."

The presentation running at the Teknor Color Company booth is a shortened, six-minute version of a full PowerPoint® presentation. For more information, designers and plastics processors may contact the company’s marketing department to discuss their specific need. The longer presentation links color predictions to an analysis of demographic groups from "Kids" though "Gen. X" and "Gen. Y" to "Baby Boomers" and "Seniors." Included are a review of current (2003) colors; key themes and concepts underlying 2004 trends; implications for brand positioning, pricing, and product distribution; and the effect of new technologies.
