BIP Chem Polymer of Florida, USA, has opened both a sales office and distribution facility in Mexico City. A subsidiary of the Oldbury, West Midlands plastics and resins manufacturer BIP Limited, Chem Polymer is an established supplier of nylon and other engineering thermoplastics to both the US and Canadian markets. 'Chemlon' nylon compounds are used in demanding applications particularly in the automotive and white goods industries. The company folds both QS 9000 and ISO 9002 approvals and its laboratory is AALA approved.

Claudia Hernandez, who has a masters degree in Chemical Engineering, has transferred from the company's Coatings Group in Mexico City to head up the sales initiative in a market described by Managing Director John Lee as "substantial and growing".

"We are already supplying small quantities of our nylon compounds to Mexican molders and are very busy sampling" states John Lee. "Inquiries have been most encouraging and, on the basis of our success against the major manufacturers in both the US and Canada, we have every confidence of establishing a good market for the same 'Chemlon' compounds in Mexico."

Distribution to customers throughout Mexico will be handled by General Polymers which provides BIP Chem Polymer with similar facilities in the USA.
