The new compounding line from NFM/WE is a TEM-75SS Series 75mm twin-screw co-rotating extruder complete turnkey system with both upstream and downstream equipment as well as a complete mezzanine - all engineered to Chem Polymer's specifications. The new line is tied into an existing NFM/WE line offering maximum processing flexibility and control.
According to Evan DeWulf, President of Chem Polymer, "The new line will add significant capacity enabling us to exploit our strengths in automotive and diversify into other markets. Currently, we have increasing demand for our value-oriented automotive approved grades. At the same time we are also looking to expand into deeper niche markets. Adrian Goode, Plant Manager at Chem Polymer, adds, "This is the second NFM/WE compounding line we've purchased and this system offers the most technologically advanced feature on the market today. We are able to control both lines from a single control unit, which gives us the flexibility we need to react quickly to our production schedule. NFM/WE provided us with everything from initial engineering to installation to start-up. We certainly saw this opportunity as an investment for the future."
Features of the NFM/WE TEM-75SS Series include:
- State-of-the-art Bulk Bag Discharge Station and material handling conveying system.
- 1500 lb. Material Hopper designed for efficiency and safety.
- Two high speed, high free-volume Side Feeders maximizing processing throughput.
- Five Loss-In Weight Feeders
- 400 hp Motor ducted for environmentally friendly production.
- Custom designed Die Assembly and Screen Changers.
- High Torque/High Screw Speed enabling increased productivity without increasing melt temperatures.
- Closed-looped Barrel Cooling System creating a compact design.
- Mezzanine System custom engineered for system.
- HIM Controller. Most modem supervisory system controls the entire line from start to finish including all auxiliary equipment. Future lines can be integrated into HIM Controller. HIM also offers advanced security features, 7-day memory and records all processing data.
- Pelletizing Unit.
Mr. Goode continues, "Our business is international in scope with the company operating two thermoplastic compounding facilities in England. NFM/Welding Engineers was able to provide the global support we needed through its European subsidiary, NFM IDDON of Leyland, England, NFM/WE also provided the engineering assistance we needed and had the processing experience to make bring the whole system together."
