Teknor Apex Creates International Sales Force Solely for Flexible Vinyl Compounds

PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND, U.S.A., May 14, 2002: International processors of flexible vinyl compounds will have even greater access to sales and support service from Teknor Apex thanks to the appointment of sales managers and representatives with offices in the world's major industrial regions, it was announced today by the company's Vinyl Division.

Serving customers in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Canada, this sales force will work directly with customers and coordinate services provided to them by Teknor Apex's worldwide network of agents and its extensive product- and application-development resources at the company's world headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

"Although Teknor Apex has long had a market presence in many parts of the world, today our international business is increasing more rapidly than ever," said Dr. Robert S Brookman, Vice President in charge of the Vinyl Division. "The chief reasons for this strong sales performance are high rates of growth for plastics processing in Asia and Latin America and surging demand there and elsewhere for specialty products developed by Teknor Apex."

Besides producing a full range of general-purpose grades in its Apex line of flexible vinyl compounds, Teknor Apex is a leading supplier of specialized formulations for automotive components, medical devices, and wire and cable. In addition, the company has developed unique high-performance products such as Fireguard low-flame, low-smoke compounds for plenum cable and Flexalloy ultra-high-molecular-weight PVC-based thermoplastic elastomers.

The appointment of an international sales force took place only months after Teknor Apex had established the Vinyl Division as a separate business center. "While Teknor Apex has been a leading compounder of flexible vinyl for more than half a century, the formation of a division exclusively for vinyl marks an expanded commitment by our company," Brookman said, citing recent investments in production capacity and new-product research, as well as expansions of professional staff.

The new international sales force includes four individuals with extensive experience in the plastics industry:

· Nathaniel J. Mather, an international-sales specialist who has been appointed Regional Manager in Asia and will manage a new Teknor Apex sales office in Singapore.

· Alejandro Ramirez Chavez, who has 16 years of experience serving plastics processors in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America, has become Vinyl Division Sales Manager for Latin America, with an office in Mexico City. In addition, Monterrey-based Alberto J. Garcia Flores has been appointed sales representative in the key manufacturing region of Northern Mexico, including the maquiladora plants along the U.S. border.
