Color Match Kit Optimizes Customer Evaluations of Concentrate Samples

Teknor Color Company now presents color-match results in a user-friendly kit that helps customers make more informed decisions about the m atch between Teknor Color concentrates and their own color standards, the company announced today at Plast-Ex 98. Called YOUR CUSTOM COLOR MATCH, the kit is a pocket folder containing specially designed tools for comparing the customer’s target colors wi th concentrates developed by a Teknor Color laboratory, recommendations for viewing sample color chips, and technical information on each of the concentrates offered as color matches.

"The color decisions made by our customers are vitally important to the appearance, processing behavior, and finished cost of their molded or extruded products," said Dr. Alan Bruder, General Manager of Teknor Color Company. "YOUR CUSTOM COLOR MATCH is a resource for making such decisions more systematically, taking into account the multiplicity of factors affecting color comparisons. For example, the kit educates users about metamerism, the phenomenon in which two colors appear to match under one light source, such as fluorescent light, but look noticeably different under another, such as sunlight."

YOUR CUSTOM COLOR MATCH includes:

· Individual match chip holders produced in a Munsell gray, the optimal background for analyzing colors, with cutouts to view the samples. These holders contain complete information on the specific concentrate, recommended letdown ratios, and carrier re sin.

· Three fixed viewing ports, behind which the match chip and target color can be compared, also printed in the same neutral gray color.

· A portable color viewing port with viewing guidelines for use with other company departments or off-site personnel.

· Standardized data sheets that include complete information on the product nomenclature, carrier and base resins, letdown ratio, light source, process, end-use, and if applicable, Pantone (registered trademark) color-system match.
