Singapore Polymer

Teknor Apex Company bought Singapore Polymer in 2001 just as it was relocating its entire plastics compounding operation to a new site in Singapore comprising three completely new manufacturing plants and extensive new technical and sales service facilities. From this complex, SPC is now supplying processors in Oceania, Asia-Pacific, the Indian sub-continent, Middle East and Africa with vinyl, thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), specialty compounds and masterbatches.

The Singapore Polymer complex is one of the largest, most sophisticated and most diversified compounding facilities in Asia. Besides offering the full range of standard SPC and Teknor Apex products, SPC is prepared to develop custom formulations tailored to specific applications, support customers by drawing on its lab capabilities and its experienced team of technicians and carry out testing for compliance with standards and regulatory agencies.

Available from SPC are up to 14,000 Teknor-developed compounds already compliant with codes and standards in the U.S., Canada, Western Europe and Japan. SPC offers fast, regional access to compounds already approved by UL, NSF, and compliant with RoHS, providing a major advantage to Asian manufacturers which serve export markets for wire and cable, potable water components, medical devices, automotive components, packaging and other products subject to stringent codes and standards.

Singapore Polymer has been in the compounding business since 1969. Its three plants have a total of 17 compounding lines with a combined nominal annual capacity of 70,000 metric tons (155,000 million pounds). Laboratory facilities are equipped for a wide range of property and compliance testing, material analysis and color matching. A pilot plant for product development includes a co-rotating twin-screw extruder and a Buss kneader.
