Colors for Bioresins
Teknor Color Company has three series of color concentrates for use in polylactic acid (PLA) resins and blends. Developed to meet growing customer demands for use in goods that are biodegradable or based on renewable resources, these concentrates are suitable for injection molding, extrusion and blow molding processes.
The three series of colorants differ in terms of their carrier resins, which are either PLA or polyesters compatible with PLA and thus readily blended into it.
- PLA-carrier concentrates are for use in PLA-compatible resins.
- Biodegradable co-polyester carrier concentrates have a petrochemical carrier resin and are recommended for blown film and other applications requiring greater flexibility than is provided by 100% PLA formulations.
- PETekŪ PET-carrier concentrates are for non-biodegradable applications where use of a biopolymer base resins such as PLA is desired.
Custom color concentrates in all three series are available for use where complete or partial bioplastic content is desired.
