Achieve Compliance With Teknor Apex Line of Non Phthalate PVC Compounds
As the leading specialist in PVC compounds, Teknor Apex now offers a diverse range of non phthalate PVC compounds that comply with the new Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulations. Our phthalate free vinyl products ensure your product is in compliance with these new regulations:
- March of 2009: toys and childcare products made from flexible PVC compounds.
- February of 2010: EU medical labeling regulations.
Teknor's move to produce non phthalate PVC compound alternatives opens up a wide choice of raw materials for manufacturers. With tightening regulations, phthalate free PVC compounds have become the new standard.
While there is no evidence that phthalates used in toy, medical and child-care articles have adversely affected human health in decades of widespread use, Teknor Apex recognizes that manufacturers now require non phthalate PVC compounds containing alternative plasticizers. As with our other vinyl material innovations, we have taken the initiative to offer our customers the broadest choice of PVC compounds possible.
Non Phthalate PVC Compounds Achieved Through Advanced Process
In three of its U.S. flexible PVC compounding plants, the Vinyl Division of Teknor Apex has physically separated the feed stream equipment introducing non-phthalate plasticizers to the mixers from the feed stream equipment introducing DEHP and other phthalate plasticizers. This move draws on the expertise of Teknor Apex Chemical Division, a long-time producer of plasticizers for captive use, including phthalates and all-important alternative types.
DEHP Free PVC Materials and Low VOC Options Also Available
Because of the advanced process employed by Teknor Apex, there are various phthalate free PVC compound levels achievable. There are many product categories where regulations only require DEHP free PVC, and this option provides substantial savings over the fully phthalate free PVC compounds noted above. These raw materials employ one of the traditionally less expensive phthalate plasticizers other than DEHP.
In addition to offering non phthalate PVC compounds and DEHP free PVC materials, Teknor Apex can supply these same compounds in versions that would be considered low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds) for applications where that characteristic would be important.
Teknor Apex continues to lead the industry with vinyl compound innovation. Together with our customers, the world is becoming a greener place. Call us today to see how we can work together to use this next generation of phthalate-free materials.
