Hurricane Ida - Customer Letter

August 31, 2021

Teknor Apex is concerned for our customers and suppliers in and around the areas being impacted by Hurricane Ida, which made landfall in Louisiana with devastating force as a Category 4 hurricane Sunday. Although Ida has now weakened to a tropical storm, it delivered damaging winds, and is expected to continue over southeastern Louisiana and southwestern Mississippi. There is also the threat of excessive rainfall over the Central Gulf Coast and Tennessee Valley into Tuesday, then move towards the Northeast as it continues to weaken. We are currently in the process of reaching out to our supplier base and logistics partners, in and around these areas, to access the state of our supply chain.

Teknor Apex has a Hurricane Risk Mitigation strategy that has been enacted. We are contacting all our major suppliers within the affected areas and we are proactively assessing our own days of supply of raw materials from suppliers within the affected zones. Although the supply chain was already in a compromised state, we will continue to seek opportunities to source from alternate suppliers.

We are closely engaged with our transportation networks, over the road carriers and rail providers to understand the challenges in navigating in and around the affected areas.  We are gathering updated lists of Teknor Apex shipments that may be impacted by Hurricane Ida.  Our Customer Experience team will advise those customers who are impacted directly. When possible, we will route our freight away from areas impacted by flooding, power outages and wind damage. This type of storm is very impactful on the transportation market as it causes both a lack of ability to move freight during the storm and after, due to a large influx of freight moving through that same market. As a result, some customers may see a lingering delay in delivery and transit times.

We are actively doing all we can for our customer base to minimize any more disruption to a supply chain already under serious constraints. As always, we strive for proactive communications to our valued customers.  We will continue to send updates to our customers once we have more information on total impact.
