Sarlink Meets New Global Specifications General Motors

May 27, 2010

Sittard/Geleen – Sarlink is pleased to announce its position as the first Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPVs) supplier in the world to be granted approval to several of General Motor’s new global specifications. In 2009, General Motors announced and defined a standardized set of global material approvals for exterior TPV. Since that time, Sarlink has worked closely with GM Materials Engineering to compile the proper data, submit it for review, and ultimately be awarded approval to these specifications.

Currently, the following materials are approved to the new GMW 15812P specifications:

Sarlink’s Americas Automotive Marketing Manager, Greg Smith, detailed the new approvals: “We at Sarlink are very pleased to have been the first TPV supplier granted approval to General Motor’s new global specifications. We are currently working through the approval process for the remainder of the exterior specs, which will cover grades with hardnesses as low as 35A all the way up to 50D. Some of these new specifications are already being seen in the market, and Sarlink is helping customers understand and work through them as they quote on and launch new programs.”

In addition, GM has announced a similar specification for non-exterior applications, the GMW 15183. Sarlink is already preparing to seek approval for their entire 4100 series line of products. Says Smith: “Sarlink has a strong focus on its customers, and in the automotive industry OEM based approvals like these are of high value. As a company with a truly global manufacturing and supply position, we are really excited to see OEM’s continue to streamline and standardize their material requirements worldwide. As global shared platforms become more and more common, Sarlink is in a great position to provide global products with local support. Moving forward, Sarlink will continue to pursue not only new global specifications for existing materials, but also the development and approval of new and innovative materials.”
