Introducing Self-Texturing PVC for Extrusion

October 15, 2014

Interested in improving quality and eliminating an entire step in your process? Teknor Apex’s new line of self-texturing extrusion grades of flexible PVC may be just what you need.

Perfectly suited for automotive applications like roof ditch molding, these compounds are produced globally, for local supply. Integrating Teknor Apex’s color capabilities, the self-texturing PVC (Apex 1545-40D ST) creates an even finish and consistent, blemish-free appearance as it is extruded, eliminating any secondary operations like top-coating or texturing.

This new technology enables manufacturers to control texture and gloss levels, yielding a homogeneous, scratch-resistant finish that stands up to the harsh weathering performance requirements of automotive OEMs.

Our technical team can provide custom color and gloss match to many OEM color standards – including the many shades of black used across the industry.  The material is currently specified for GM’s new truck platform, with more to follow.

Additional noteworthy features:

  • Can be co-extruded
  • Bonds well to metal
  • Performance of standard PVC grades
