Teknor Apex aspires to be a leader in corporate sustainability. We are committed to the journey - as a business partner, an employer, a community member, an environmental steward, and a value creator for our stakeholders. Our efforts are essential if we are to meet our goal to reduce normalized energy consumption an additional 10% by 2030.
Teknor Apex manufacturing operations are historical ly energy intensive; therefore, our focus lies in optimizing existing operations with automation, replacing outdated equipment with energy efficient technologies, and implementing energy efficient projects. Our daily operations align business performance with a commitment to environmental, social and community stewardship encompassing
these elements:
Reduce the environmental footprint of our operations.
- Reduce the Carbon emissions (greenhouse gas) that are attributed from two key sources: on-site combustion of fuels and electricity usage to operate our manufacturing plants.
- Our recently launched global "1 Million Kilowatt-Hour Challenge" is intended to identify energy-saving solutions and leverage these efforts by sharing them throughout Teknor Apex. (For example, an air compressor survey conducted at our South Carolina facility has identified opportunities yielding an estimated annual savings of 300,000 kWh, with many of these opportunities easily transferrable to other locations.)
- In addition to reducing the amount of electricity consumed by our plants, Teknor Apex is seeking opportunities to use 'clean' energy sources to reduce the environmental impact associated with these emissions.
- Solar panels have been installed with generated electricity sold back to the energy grid. In addition, two of our larger facilities purchased renewable energy credits to offset 10% of their annual purchased electricity consumption. To further transition to clean energy sources, we intend to expand our efforts in renewable energy, including the establishment of a green energy partnership in Singapore to generate 10% of the base load electricity use with an on-site solar array starting in early 2022.
Engage openly on sustainability issues.
- Teknor Apex established a Global Energy Team whose focus is the development and promotion of strategic projects that allow access and use of renewable energy sources
- Communicate regularly with customers, employees and external stakeholders on sustainability issues, goals, and efforts.
