WIRE FOR PERFORMANCE

Elexar® TPEs provide a unique combination of flexibility, toughness, and abrasion resistance for parts exposed to harsh environments. Suitable for both extrusion and injection molding, these versatile materials can be used in wire and cable jacketing and insulation, electrical connectors and plugs, strain reliefs and grommets. Choose a standard product, or ask us about our specialty materials, which include semi-conductive, antimicrobial, foamable, and optically clear grades. And if your application is very unique, work with us to develop a customized solution to meet your specific end-use requirements.

EL-8400 Series: Standard Non-Flame Retardant TPEs

This non-FR Elexar® series carries a UL-94 rating of HB, and per UL-1581, these grades are approved for continuous use up to 105oC. Select grades are also UV-resistant for excellent outdoor weatherability.  Although these products can be processed by injection molding and extrusion, they are used primarily in cable insulation and jacketing.

EL-8700 Series: Standard Flame Retardant TPEs

These flame-retardant compounds are UL-94 rated from V-2 to V-0 at 3.0 mm, yet are RoHS and REACH SVHC compliant. With improved flame resistance, this series enhances the performance of cable insulation and jacketing. Select grades are UV-resistant for improved weatherability. These grades are rated for a continuous use temperature of 105oC per UL-1581.

EL-1900 Series: High Performance Flame Retardant TPEs

Designed for superior resistance to ignition and burning, this high-performance Elexar® series has a UL-94 rating of V-0 at 1.35 mm and a continuous use temperature rating of 105oC per UL-1581. These compounds are RoHS and REACH SVHC compliant, are UV-resistant, exhibit good chemical resistance, and remain flexible even at low temperatures. Suitable for extrusion and injection molding, this series includes low durometer grades for flexible molded components. Primarily used for insulation and jacketing, these compounds are good candidates for SEOW FR and VW-1 constructions.

EL-2900 Series: Crush and Deformation Resistant TPEs

These specialty Elexar® compounds are highly resistant to deformation, making them suitable candidates for ribbon cables. These grades are UL-94 rated for V-0 at 1.5 mm and are UV-resistant for superior weatherability. This series is suitable for extrusion applications only.

EL-3900 Series: High-Flow TPEs for Injection Molding

These high-flow materials are designed for injection molding for electrical products like strain reliefs. These grades are flame-retardant and halogen-free, and are UL-94 rated for HB at 1.5 mm. Select grades are UV-resistant for outdoor applications.

Elexar and Telcar TPEs for Flexible Cords

Wire and Cable

Elexar® compounds are well-suited for wire and cable applications due to their outstanding electrical properties and ozone and chemical resistance. These compounds are primarily used for cable insulation and for insulation and jacketing for flexible cords in low voltage applications. The major advantage of Elexar® is its broad thermal performance and the ability to maintain flexibility even at very low temperatures.

The Elexar® product line includes flame retardant (FR) and non-FR solutions, and standard grades are UL certified.  High-performance Elexar® grades have excellent UV resistance, a wide service temperature range of -60oC to 105oC, and UL-94 ratings of V-0.

Molded Electrical Products

Elexar® offers a variety of benefits for electrical molded products like boots, plugs, and connectors. Elexar® molding grades exhibit high flow for improved moldability, range in hardness from 60 to 90 Shore A, and are available in custom colors. These grades are free of flame retardants and halogen, are RoHS and REACH SVHC compliant, and UL-94 rated for HB at 1.5 mm. Elexar® TPEs have a rubber-like appearance and feel and remain flexible over a wide temperature range.
