Plastic sheet is often used in demanding applications that require superior impact strength. The ability to make light weight sheet, with high impact drop dart resistance, gives designers and engineers options in replacing metal, or improving on current plastic constructions.

Typically in load bearing applications, plastic sheet must be thicker than the metal sheet it replaces to have the same impact properties, however thicker sheet can be a limiting factor for applications where space and weight are concerns. Improved key physical properties, such as impact strength in a plastic sheet, would allow for the more cost effective metal replacement without resorting to thicker, heavier constructions.

To address the desire for stronger sheet, Teknor Color Company has developed a proprietary technology called TekTuff™ which significantly enhances the drop dart properties of polyolefin sheet. Quite often, this technology can be added to an existing color concentrate formulation without changing the let-down ratio (LDR). More importantly, no rematching is needed because adding TekTuff impact modifier to a color concentrate will not alter the final color.
